Candle Care & Tips

The Perfect Flame: Generally speaking, you can tell if a candle is burning properly by observing the flame. A calm, steady flame means the candle is burning in balance. It is important to trim the candle wick to 1/4 of an inch above the candle wax before the candle is lit. This helps insure the flame is steady and calm.

Burning Tips: There are many factors that determine how a candle burns. To be able to enjoy your candle for the longest possible time, following are tips to insure the longest possible burn time.

Tip: Try to burn your candle long enough each time you light it so that the entire top layer of wax melts to the sides. This tip is especially important when burning candles in glass containers for the first time. Allowing the wax to melt out from the wick to the edges of the glass container you will have a clear and clean container and enjoy the maximum burn time possible.

Tip: Temperature of Candle makes a difference. If the candle wax temperature is below room temperature it may result in too small of a flame not allowing the wax to burn properly and wax being left on the side of the glass. Said another way, the candle burns down the center.

A lit candle is an open flame. Always follow basic fire safety rules when using candles.

Tip: Wax drippings can be removed from the candle by runnng hot water over the candle. However, don't run the hot water from the sink, putting melted wax down the drain...you will end up with clocked pipes!

Tip: Never use a sharp knife to remove wax drippings from a glass votive holder. You may scratch the glass and subsequently weaken it, causing it to break when it heats up from the candle burning.
